Julius ran in the rain that was pouring down on the asphalt of the road, regardless of the cars that avoided him by honking their horns madly in the roar of the storm. He was running away. He didn't know from whom or, better yet, he didn't know from what . He only knew that he had to escape, far away, escape from that city and from that something to which he had not been able to give a name or a face, away, even further away, without stopping until he found a safe refuge.
But Julius wasn't sure he could find it. He had been running since morning through the streets of that city drowned by a dark and uninterrupted rain. He had been Special Data running for hours, resting for a few moments and then resuming his crazy escape into the unknown. He felt hunted, like prey chased by a formless beast. If anyone had seen him, he would have been shocked by the look of immense terror on his face. Self . But no one cared about him, while he fled like a madman through the streets of the city. Everyone walked along his street, quickly, trying to shelter from that continuous and violent rain.
Only Julius seemed not to care about the rain, soaked to the bone, tired, with no breath or strength left. The sky darkened even more in the approaching evening, and in the darkness of the advancing night Julius felt that his end was near, if he didn't run faster, if he didn't manage to leave that city quickly. He just had time to look up at the sky. No one saw him fall in the rain. No one heard him scream in horror, staring with bulging eyes at that stormy gray sky. A deafening thunder had annihilated the chaotic sounds of the city and the curtain of water hid everything. When the rain stopped, nothing remained of Julius. Not even the memory.
